With collaborations between digital and pharmaceutical companies on the rise, including two recent deals between IBM Watson and Novo Nordisk and TEVA, speculation has arisen on how digital companies are going to succeed in healthcare. Many companies have, perhaps naively, tried to upend the health system with new technologies and have failed. The embedded healthcare infrastructure from regulatory requirements and convoluted payer systems are extremely important to understand and navigate.
In this panel, digital health leaders will share the challenges that face the industry in building the business models that will generate sustainable revenues, and they will share their own anecdotes for how they plan to succeed. Questions to be addressed include: What will allow companies to succeed and thrive in this nascent industry? Will it be collaborations with pharma partners? Or mastering the health insurance system? Or pursuing self-insurance programs?
