Description

Over the last 10 years we have experienced numerous potentially epidemic infectious disease global events from rare or relatively unknown pathogens. Mounting a rapid response with vaccines, therapeutics and diagnostics requires investments in R&D, platform technologies and infrastructure that can be called upon at the global level.

The panel will use the most recent experiences with Ebola and Zika to discuss the challenges of vaccine development in the midst of a global public health emergency – multiple target populations, complexity of clinical trials, shifting epidemiology, etc. Experts from industry, government and partner organizations will evaluate what systems are needed to prepare for the next epidemic.
