BIO’s Vice President for Infectious Diseases and Diagnostics Policy, articulates BIO’s commitment to One Health,the idea that the health of humans, animals, and our environment are all interconnected. As an organization representing the broad spectrum of biology-based solutions important to One Health, BIO stands with its members leading the way to One Health success.
12:30 – 2:00 pm || One Health Day Keynote Speaker & Panel
Our keynote presentation will introduce the One Health concept and demonstrate how this approach can help address today’s greatest challenges. The keynote presentation will be followed by a keynote panel of senior leaders, who will discuss the business case for One Health, looking at the ways in which translational science approaches for human, animal and environmental health can help businesses grow and succeed in the future.
2:15 – 3:30 pm || Panel Discussion: Global Perspectives on One Health
Translating One Health into policy: Global Perspectives. Featuring international voices – this session will highlight international governmental efforts to incorporate the One Health philosophy into policies that foster the collaboration and coordination necessary to confront global health and security challenges.
3:45 – 4:45 pm || Panel Discussion: USG Funding for One Health Research and Applications
Most bioterrorism agents are zoonotic, meaning they can affect both people and animals, making biodefense and biosecurity research prime applications for One Health. This panel of experts and decision-makers will provide insight into how the U.S. government uses the One Health concept to inform its research and funding decisions.
4:45 – 5:00 pm || Closing Remarks
As the One Health concept gains momentum domestically and internationally, the biotechnology industry and its partners will play a key role in building and cementing One Health success.
