While life sciences directed technology-based economic development (TBED) organizations have multiplied over the last 40 years, their missions are similar and largely unchanged - to drive regional economic development in the life sciences. Many leading organizations have adopted roles as direct or indirect investors in innovation at all stages of development. These investments - ranging from traditional grants, loans and tax credits to equity vehicles, seeding public/private partnerships and other emerging investment models - are designed to grow their innovation pipelines and generate economic and financial returns for their primary funders.
Representatives from four of the nation’s premier life sciences TBED organizations will discuss the evolution of their models and their current approaches for delivering impact to their funders and constituents.
