Bio
Kevin E. Noonan is a scientist, patent lawyer and founding author of the biotechnology patent law blog, Patent Docs. Dr. Noonan received a PhD in molecular biology from Princeton University, and was a National Cancer Institute postdoctoral fellow at the University of Illinois at Chicago where he studied the genetic basis of cancer and drug resistance. He brings this extensive experience to his legal work, representing pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies and university clients on all aspects of intellectual property protection. Dr. Noonan has over twenty-five years experience with prosecuting patents and representing clients in interference and reexamination proceedings before the BPAI and PTAB, as well as representing clients in ANDA litigation. He is a frequent speaker, writer and commentator on biotechnology patenting issues and has authored several amicus briefs to district courts, the Federal Circuit and the Supreme Court. Recent speaking engagements include talks on biosimilars litigation and ethics, subject matter eligibility and PTO and judicial interpretations of Sec. 101, claim construction after Teva v. Sandoz, and presentations at BIO IPCC and BIO IPDX conferences.
