Arpa Garay is President, Global Pharmaceuticals and leads the commercialization of in-line and pipeline assets as well as business development across specialty, hospital and chronic care businesses.
Prior to this appointment, Arpa was Senior Vice President, US Vaccines, leading a cross-functional organization to improve public health and deliver on business objectives across a portfolio of pediatric, adolescent, and adult vaccines. She was also the Managing Director of Norway, where she worked closely with the government on healthcare policy, developed innovative approaches to securing patient access, and led the subsidiary to become the #1 pharmaceutical company in the country. In addition to her numerous commercial roles, Arpa led the corporate ten-year global scenario planning and helped ensure the successful integration of MSD and Schering-Plough in the US.
Before coming to Merck in 2006, Arpa worked at Bristol-Myers Squibb and was also a strategy consultant at the Monitor Group (now Monitor Deloitte) for five years.
She has been externally recognized for her leadership as Fortune’s Most Powerful Women: Next Gen, Business Insider’s Top 30 under 40 in BioPharma, and Philadelphia Business Journal’s Top 40 under 40 business leaders.
Arpa holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where she focused on medicine, public health and public policy. She currently lives outside of Philadelphia with her husband and three children.
